Dive Insight:
The collection’s release coincides with the annual Wimbledon Championships in England, which this year is played from June 30 through July 13. The fashion industry regularly revisits its connection to tennis and the sport’s ties to the luxury sector.
This collab also “channels the bold, graphic energy of 1990s tennis culture,” per the release, and plays into the current trend for styles from that decade.
Brooks Brothers and Prince created the collection using archival inspiration from both brands, according to the announcement.
“The capsule reflects a dynamic moment in fashion history when tennis style met street culture, creating a distinctly nostalgic yet modern aesthetic,” Authentic said in the release. “Each piece offers a fresh interpretation of heritage silhouettes with vintage-inspired graphics and functional materials made for on and off the court.”
Authentic acquired the Prince brand name in 2012, and in 2020, Authentic acquired Brooks Brothers in partnership with SPARC Group, which is a 50/50 joint venture between Simon Property and Authentic.
Authentic owns more than 50 brands, including Reebok, Champion and Sperry, and generates about $32 billion in annual retail sales, per the company’s website. Authentic also launched a joint venture with Saks Global in October 2024 called Authentic Luxury Group.
