Dive Insight:
The new design marks the second time Dr. Martens has collaborated with MadeMe. Last year, the two companies launched a platform version of Dr. Martens’ 1461 Oxford shoe in silver with purple laces.
MadeMe was founded in 2007 by Erin Magee, chief creative officer of Supreme. Magee’s streetwear line combines feminine-edged silhouettes with punk, skate and rave styles from the 1990s and 2000s. This complements Dr. Martens’ new Buzz silhouette perfectly, the footwear company said in the release.
“For our second collaboration, I wanted to bring back an under-the-radar silhouette from the late ’90s — the Dr. Martens Buzz,” Magee said in the release. “It felt right for MadeMe: that era was all about women driving culture, music, and style. This version taps into that same raw energy, reimagined for a new generation of it-girls, championing a truly singular and radically instinctive take on girlhood.”
Dr. Martens launched its Buzz line earlier this year with shoes that drew inspiration from its 1990s archive.
Introducing the Buzz product family was part of Dr. Martens’ growth strategy, company executives said in the footwear brand’s earnings report earlier this month.
Dr. Martens is shifting focus from retail channels to a “consumer-first mindset,” in which it is working to gain new customers and add new executives focused on brand development.
For its 2025 fiscal year, the company reported revenue of 787.6 million pounds, or about $1.1 billion at the time.
The footwear brand also recently collaborated with streetwear brand Palace.
