Dive Insight:
Rebag has been steadily expanding its efforts to connect with luxury resale customers since it successfully raised $33 million in Series E funds in 2021. The company added a consignment option in 2023, and last year it added a membership program and collaborated on a retail and digital partnership with Bloomingdale’s.
The launch of Rebag on Amazon represents one of the company’s largest collaborations to date.
“The partnership with Amazon Luxury Stores not only connects us with a wider audience, but also offers customers the benefits of both platforms,” Charles Gorra, CEO and founder of Rebag, said in an email to Fashion Dive.
Amazon will offer customers free two-day shipping and process returns, but any returned items will be subject to Rebag’s verification and inspection process, according to a Rebag spokesperson. Price points will be the same as on Rebag’s website, and sellers will still need to go through Rebag directly if they wish to consign products, per the spokesperson.
Amazon has previously partnered with luxury resellers Hardly Ever Worn It and What Goes Around Comes Around. The e-commerce giant has been attempting to enter the wider luxury fashion space since 2020, when it launched a mobile-only partnership with Oscar de la Renta. Amazon later expanded its luxury store concept to Europe in 2022 and partnered with Rent the Runway in 2023.
In April, Amazon announced its biggest online luxury venture to date with the launch of a Saks Fifth Avenue storefront through Luxury Stores. The initial rollout offers women’s and men’s ready-to-wear, beauty, shoes, handbags and accessories from brands including Balmain, Stella McCartney, Fear of God and Jason Wu Collection.
Amazon was one of the investors involved in the January acquisition of the Neiman Marcus Group by Saks Global, parent company of Saks Fifth Avenue. Another investor in that deal, Authentic Brands Group, launched a joint venture with Saks Global in October 2024 called Authentic Luxury Group, which was created to explore licensing opportunities and drive growth for Saks Global as well as Authentic-owned brands including Barneys New York, Judith Leiber, Hervé Léger and Vince.
